Why don't you use something like Silverkeeper (http://www.lacie.com/silverkeeper/) to back your entire boot drive up to your 2nd internal drive.
It makes life a lot easier than doing it manually. Like most backup software, it won't overwrite files that haven't changed. You can set it to a schedule or even create a bootable back-up...
Using something like this or Dantz Retrospect (http://www.dantz.com/en/products/macpersonal.dtml) with an external hard-drive and CD/DVD backups kept off-site of completed work is a pretty reliable method of backing-up.

i would put down like 100-150. becouse of the hastle / possibility of having to pay for it to be fixed.
Unless the magic cracked iphone screen fairy is going to come around and fix this one night while you sleep, I'm guessing the possibility of having to pay to get the screen repaired is quite high.

Yep--the white 5.5G lives in the SoundDock, the black 5G did live in the car but will be gotten rid of in favor of the new 7G classic, the mini I just love--my first iPod was a silver mini that I had for three years but then lost, then feeling nostalgic I found this one NIB on ebay last year so I had to pick it up. The 7G Classic in the case is my normal everyday iPod, as are the three nanos. So I'm a little overboard on my everyday iPods, as I certainly don't need four, but the nanos are prime and the classic is just the best...I just couldn't decide on a nano color.:o

That's one thing I really hate about apple. Once a new revision comes out, if you have a problem with the previous generation product you may as well forget about it ever getting fixed.
There are an awful lot of examples that would say otherwise.
For a start I would mention the hard drive replacement program for the white MacBooks which are 3/4 years old. Then there was the update to fix the audio issue with the 2009 Mac Pro's.
Would you care to give examples of these problems which have been ignored?

Yes, but you are limited to very low powered devices, I believe it is 10 ma or less, in effect only the SD adaptor works, to use the USB adapter you must add a self powered hub.....
Does iPhone need to be jailbroken to support SD Adapter? I was under impression Camera Connection kit only worked with iPad (power issues aside)?

iPhone. You have a 13" MBP so I think it goes better with a iPhone since that is something you can put in your pocket and take anywhere.
I just picked up my first smart phone, the iPhone 3Gs for only $49 and it is the single coolest gadget I ever had in my life (over 50 years). Since I upgraded my AT&T service I get to get my iPhone I am entitled to another phone upgrade within 12 months (else it would be 18 months). My thinking was that I need to get to know my iphone and in a year I would be eligible to get a iPhone 5. My $49 3GS is fine and I don't miss the iphone 4 features but I am hoping that the iPhone 5 is both 4" screen and will work on AT&T with 4G for faster.... Those two phone upgrades was useful and helped me opt out of a iPhone 4 last month.
I really can't see needing an ipad with a MBP and iPhone. If I had an iMac then a iPad and iPhone makes sense but if in any case an iPhone has become a life changing must have device that fits in my pocket

thanks so much for the replies. i gave the ps3mediaserver app a try and the results were better than i expected. i was worried that on the fly transcoding would degrade video to webcam quality or something! hopefully between that and the wd nas, i'll have a decent set of options for downloaded content.
and fingers crossed that either a more competent browser or a better canadian netflix selection will show up on the horizon someday.
in the meantime i just looked at the trailer for wipeout HD fury, @-SD- you have a surprising insight into exactly the type of game that i'd enjoy, thanks! :)

Sorry to yell, but I built macthemesforums.net (http://macthemesforums.net) with phpbb and we all have been regretting it since about 3 months after the site launched. Security holes were the first major issue that we encountered... and now we have incredibly slow loading times and it is very hard to upgrade the software since we have made so many hacks to the default installation.
If you want lightweight and super fast, try PunBB (http://punbb.org).
If you want a powerful board with good support, use vBulleting or Invision Powerboard.

I have an Alpine iDA-X305S in my car that I have been running my 32gig iPod Touch for about a year now with no problems.
Today I updated the software on the iPod to the latest available and now scrolling through the artists through the head unit is very sluggish (a huge understatement) or doesn't even scroll at all.
The unit is supposedly made for iPod.
I have no idea what to do, I have tried resetting the iPod and the head unit, but nothing changes.
